aPTT measures part of the coagulation cascade. Prolonged aPTT may be caused by heparin and other anticoagulants, factor deficiencies, or inhibitors such as lupus anticoagulants.

Preferred Specimen:
1 mL plasma (0.3 mL minimum)
Instructions:
Do not thaw. See Specimen Collection Section, Coagulation Testing. Hemolyzed specimens are not acceptable.
